Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia has appointed a technical committee to oversee the final stages of establishing the SSC-Khatumo regional administration. The decision was made following discussions at the National Consultative Council meeting held in May 2025.
The committee, comprising eight members, was announced in a decree signed by Minister Ali Yusuf Ali – Hosh, who will directly oversee the committee’s operations. The members of the committee are:
- Ahmednur Mohamed Abdi (Chairperson)
- Abdinasir Haji Mohamed (Vice Chairperson)
- Ahmed Shire Ahmed (Member)
- Arafat Ali Mohamed (Member)
- Ahmed Yusuf Mahmoud (Member)
- Rufa’i Mohamed Salad (Member)
- Mahmoud Said Nour (Member)
- Faduma Abdi Ali (Member)
The committee's main role will be to provide strategic advice, coordinate between federal and regional bodies, and expedite the completion of the SSC-Khatumo regional administration’s framework. Regular progress reports will be submitted to the Ministry and other involved bodies.
The Ministry emphasized that the SSC-Khatumo regional administration’s inclusion in the National Consultative Council of the Federal Government of Somalia, along with the completion of its formation, will follow Somalia’s constitution.
This initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing federalization efforts, and the appointed committee will continue its work until the SSC-Khatumo administration is fully established. The process is expected to be completed by July 2025.
