Mogadishu, 5 September 2026 The Somali Future Council on Friday condemned explosions at the residence of former Custodial Corps commander Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden in Doolow, Gedo region, and called for an independent investigation into allegations that foreign-provided military capabilities were involved.
In a statement, the Council said it was concerned by the allegations and urged international partners to ensure that weapons, drones, intelligence and counterterrorism assistance provided to fight Al-Shabaab are not diverted to domestic political disputes or electoral confrontation.
The federal government, meanwhile, denied involvement, saying preliminary information indicated explosive devices were being prepared inside the house and that it was closely monitoring the incident.
The government said a fact-finding committee would be appointed to investigate what happened, the intended purpose of the explosives and those responsible.

The Council said responsibility should not be attributed before independently verified evidence is established, stressing the need for a full investigation.
So far, neither responsibility nor the type of weapon used has been independently established.
