Somalia, 6 April 2026 First Somali Takaful Insurance and the Somali Engineers Association (SEA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost construction insurance cooperation and enhance engineers’ skills in Somalia.
The agreement seeks to establish a formal framework of collaboration to provide Somali engineers with tailored insurance services suited to their profession, while enhancing professional standards and financial security.
Under the terms of the deal, the insurer will offer comprehensive insurance solutions covering engineering-related risks. Members of the association will also benefit from preferential premium rates, streamlined service processes, and dedicated claims management teams.
The Somali Engineers Association will facilitate access for its members to training programs, workshops, and seminars focused on risk management, as well as accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.

Speaking on the agreement, the founder and General Manager of First Somali Takaful Insurance, Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, said construction insurance plays a key role in reducing risks associated with accidents, structural failures, and financial losses in major projects.
“We believe that construction insurance will play a significant role in mitigating risks and boosting investor confidence in the country,” he said.
