Kenya, 25 July 2025 (Dawan) – The Somali Embassy in Kenya is addressing certificate recognition issues to help Somali students access higher education in Kenya, officials said.
Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle emphasized that the embassy is committed to ensuring all Somali students have fair opportunities to pursue education, while addressing certificate equivalency issues that have affected students in recent years.

In the most recent meeting, Ambassador Jabril and officials from Somalia’s Ministry of Education engaged with David Njengere, Director General of Kenya’s National Examinations Council, to review progress in harmonizing the recognition of secondary school qualifications between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to establish a technical committee to closely monitor and finalize the equivalency process by September, enabling Somali students to align with the start of the Kenyan academic year.
