Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Somali Cabinet has appointed Abdisalan Abdirahman Mohamed as the new Director General of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The decision, recommended by the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED), was approved during the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Thursday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Planning highlighted the significance of the appointment, emphasizing the Bureau's role in advancing data collection and analysis to support Somalia’s development efforts.
The NBS is expected to play a critical role in providing reliable statistics for policy-making, planning, and monitoring progress toward national and international development goals.
