ADDIS ABABA, 28 September 2026 – The Somali Engineers Association (SEA) and the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers (EACE) signed a memorandum of understanding in Addis Ababa during the EACE International Infrastructure Conference 2026.
A delegation led by SEA chair Eng. Ibrahim Abdi Heyle is representing Somali engineers at the conference. Engineering associations, experts, government officials and companies from across Africa and beyond are attending.
According to SEA, the agreement focuses on technical cooperation, sharing knowledge and expertise, engineer training and continuing professional development. It also covers research, innovation, and the development of joint programmes and projects.

"This memorandum of understanding marks a new step in strengthening engineering cooperation, knowledge and development opportunities for Somalia and the region," Heyle said.
SEA said the conference also gives it an opportunity to meet regional and international engineering organisations and take part in discussions on infrastructure development, technology and building the capacity of African engineers.
