MOGADISHU, 4 Oct. 26 — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) says the public can submit complaints through short-code number 449, with some already documented after follow-up.
SODMA Chairman Mahmoud Moallim said this in an interview on the Miizaan Podcast, broadcast on Dawan TV.
“We have a short number that was set up, called 449. That number is intended for complaints, which can be flagged through it,” Moallim said.
He said the agency has received many complaints, followed them up, and documented some.

Moallim cautioned that not every complaint can automatically be treated as fact, and claims made in the media or on social media cannot always be verified.
“What can be verified is whatever is backed by official evidence,” he said, adding the goal is to obtain solid evidence that can be used to bring a person before a court or through the legal process.
He said the existence of the complaint line has itself brought change once people became aware they can call to report.
