Mogadishu, 26 August 2026 - Somalia's National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) discussed strengthening preparedness and response to disasters amid the country's humanitarian situation, SoDMA said.
SoDMA Chairman Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle met NRC Secretary-General Jan Egeland at the agency's headquarters in Mogadishu, where they discussed drought, flooding, conflict, displacement, food shortages and risks associated with Super El Niño, according to SoDMA.
The talks focused on strengthening Somalia's capacity to prepare for and respond to disasters, the agency said.

NRC pledged to continue its support and cooperation with the Somali government, particularly in assisting vulnerable communities.
Abdulle welcomed Egeland's visit and said stronger cooperation and international support were important to help Somalis affected by humanitarian crises.
