Kenya, July 21, 2026 - Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is appealing to ordinary Kenyans to help fund the Linda Mwananchi movement through Sh10 donations, saying small contributions from supporters, not wealthy financiers, will drive its activities across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Mulembe FM, Sifuna unveiled Paybill number 3033049, explaining that the fundraising account is registered under his name because the movement has not yet been registered as a political party.
He dismissed claims that the movement is being funded by wealthy backers, challenging critics to be consistent in their accusations.
"The critics should choose one battle. If I'm someone's project, then I have money; why do they then say that I do not have money? They should choose one, either I have or do not have money. Either I have a sponsor or do not have one," Sifuna said.
The senator urged supporters to contribute Sh10 each, promising full transparency on how the money is raised and spent.
"Send me those Sh10, and I shall later announce how much we have raised. Because we have agreed on equality... we show them all the money that has come in so far and how we have utilised it," he said.
According to Sifuna, the funds are used to meet the movement's operational costs, including transport, logistics and service providers during public rallies.
"We use the money to pay DJ Spider and also pay for other logistics. For example, we used the money to support our brother who passed on in Kisii during our rally. The money came from Linda Mwananchi," he said.

He insisted the fundraising drive is not meant to enrich leaders but to sustain the movement's grassroots activities.
"We are not looking to enrich ourselves. We do not need too much money. What we need is to cover the logistics of attending some of these meetings."
Sifuna revealed that the movement's most expensive rally was held in Kisumu, where about Sh2.6 million was spent, largely on security after organisers reportedly received threats.
During the same interview, the senator argued that restoring the rule of law is essential to attracting investment and tackling youth unemployment.
"No investor will put money into a country that is not governed by the rule of law," he said.
He maintained that investors are more likely to commit capital in countries where court decisions are respected and disputes are resolved fairly, saying this would create more employment opportunities for young Kenyans.
