Kenya, 21 July 2026 - Garissa Senator Abdul Haji has vowed to wipe out Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale from Garissa County politics, accusing of interfering with his political support base.
Senator Haji who is one of the leading contenders for Garissa County Gubernatorial contest noting that he doesn’t fear anybody promising a bruising political battle.
Using parables, Haji said ‘Huyu mtu wa SHA’ has been meddling in the affairs of his Samawathal clan backyard alleging that he has bankrolled the recent coronation of a parallel Sultan which he said is against the traditions.
The soft-spoken senator noted that there were political leaders who are envious of the alliance he had made with Aulihan of the larger Ogaden who claimed have unanimously supported his candidature.
Amidst applause from his supporters during a town hall meeting in Garissa, Haji promised a bruising political battle with his rivals pledging to politically wipe his nemesis.
“Today here in Garissa there is someone who is disturbing us, anywhere he goes he keeps telling people that I am their enemy, I have become enemy in their faces because I have the support of Aulihan and Samawathal,” he said.
Two weeks ago, a group of political leaders including former Ijara member of parliament Ahmed Abass who has equally declared hus gubernatorial bid coronated another parallel sultan in Masalani, Haji and Abass hail from Ijara Constituency.
Senator Haji was meeting Rer Ali of Larger Aulihan which is the backyard of another candidate Mohamed Shidiye.

Senator Haji said his rivals and associates are now in a shadowboxing match because they clearly see he is the front runner in the race to succeed the current Governor.
Coronation of another Sultan in the Somali tradition the senator noted is unheard of in the Somali culture adding that doing that is the same as killing the current one who is at the helm because of hereditary.
“I have consulted with elders who told me that action is like killing the current Sultan but we know who paid money to have those events and we are ready for him,” he said.
Some elders traditionally pursue the matter in the ogaden council of elders which their meetings were reportedly frustrated with.
Abdul Haji a two-term senate Garissa senator succeeded his late Father Mohamed Yussuf Haji, he is also the younger brother of Director General National Intelligence Service (NIS).
As the 2027 General Election date draws closer, it seems Garissa county political leaders are in a supremacy battle, with CS Duale and Garissa senator Abdul Haji in a fierce political battle.
