Kenya, 9 April 2026 - Tension is mounting in western Kenya following a dramatic breakthrough in the investigation into the attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi — a brazen incident that unfolded in broad daylight at the popular Java House located inside West End Mall.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have now moved swiftly, netting three key suspects believed to be directly linked to the attack. The arrests, carried out across Kisumu’s neighborhoods, mark a critical turning point in a case that has gripped both political circles and the public.
The individuals in custody — Carlos Owiti alias Kalonje (24) from Nyalenda, Eric Otieno alias Dude (39) from Manyatta, and Vincent Odhiambo alias Tinga (27), also from Nyalenda — are currently undergoing processing ahead of their court appearance. Authorities believe their capture could unlock deeper layers of the plot.
But this is far from over.
Investigators say the operation has now entered a more aggressive phase, with detectives pursuing additional suspects and piecing together what may be a wider network behind the attack. The speed and coordination of the arrests suggest a calculated effort by law enforcement to stay ahead of any attempts to obstruct justice.
The DCI has also pointed to the critical role played by members of the public, whose tips and cooperation have significantly accelerated progress in the case. Officials are urging continued vigilance, signaling that more arrests could be imminent.
