BAYDHABO (Dawan Africa) — Seven political organisations that participated in South West’s elections have agreed to support a single candidate in the region’s ongoing electoral process, according to the secretary of the SINCAD party.
Abdifatah Hassan Afrah said the agreement was reached following the May 10 elections, with several candidates withdrawing in favour of a unified nominee.
“The seven political organisations agreed to have one candidate, and the other candidates withdrew in support of that agreement,” he said.
Afrah said the agreement reflects efforts to consolidate political support during South West’s leadership elections.
He added that Somalia’s democratic system and constitutional framework require political outcomes to be determined through majority support.
