Ethiopia, 23 July 2026 – A road accident involving a cargo truck killed seven people and injured a child in Ethiopia's Somali region, police said on Wednesday, according to regional broadcaster SRTV Somali.
The crash occurred in the Karamarda district of Jigjiga, the capital of Ethiopia's Somali region, SRTV Somali reported.
Police said the seven victims included five men and two women, while a child sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The truck involved in the accident was identified as a Sinotruk cargo vehicle, according to Aydarus Mohamed Ahmed, head of the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit at the Somali Regional State Police Commission.
Police said an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the crash and assess the full extent of the damage.
Emergency medical teams and security personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after the accident, SRTV Somali reported.
