Kenya, 31 August 2026 - Principal Secretary in the State Department for National Government Coordination Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim on Monday attended and participated in a high-level dialogue on the Future of Development with discussions focusing on delivering results for more and better jobs in a changing development landscape.
The Chief Guest during the high-level dialogue was Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning John Mbadi, who delivered the key note address.
CS Mbadi spoke on the Government perspective on strengthening coordination and implementation to translate priorities into better outcomes for all Kenyans.
During the panel discussions, PS Abdisalan Ibrahim highlighted the Government's efforts on growth and job creation clearly outlined in it's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) priorities including in the Agricultural sector, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Economy, Affordable Housing, Health Care and the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy.
Of note is that in Affordable Housing alone, a total of 640,442 jobs have been created so far both directly and indirectly.
In addition, strengthening TVET and Competency-Based Education and training is essential to improve youth employability.

The PS noted that training has been aligned with industry needs, particularly in agriculture, engineering and ICT, and supported by industrial attachments and recognition of prior learning.
PS Ibrahim also reiterated that the Government remains committed to creating decent, productive and inclusive jobs as foundations for broad-based economic growth and improved livelihoods. He added that it is imperative to nurture partnerships between the Government and Private Sector with the aim of establishing incubators and seed capital to support entrepreneurship and self-employment among the youth.
Present at the High-Level Dialogue was the Vice President, East and Southern Africa, World Bank Group, Mr Ndiame Diop, the Chief Executive Officer, the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, Ms. Carole Kariuki, Director, Outcomes Department, World Bank Group, Mr. Lisandro Martin, Director, African Development Bank Group, Mr Armand Nzeyimana and Director, Islamic Development Bank, Mr Syed Husain Quadri.
The event was co-hosted by the World Bank Group, African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.
