Ethiopia, 13 October 2025 — Residents of Somali Regional State have held peaceful rallies to express support for the development projects being implemented across the region.
The city of Qabridahar served as the centre for the celebrations, held under the theme: ‘Laying the Foundation is Hope and Ribbon-Cutting is the Realization of the Dream’.
The rallies aimed to unite the public in support of the large-scale projects recently launched by the regional government, which include both completed and ongoing initiatives.
Senior officials from the regional government, including the Minister of Information, Mohamed Adan, and Minister of Trade and Transport, Abdirahman Sheikh Hassan, attended the rallies. Qorahay regional leaders, Qabridahar city administrators, and representatives from various districts and social groups were also present.
Similar rallies took place in Godey, where the main event was held at the city’s football stadium following a public meeting focused on Barwaaqo Party’s development agenda.
Regional Vice President Ibrahim Osman Farah addressed the gathering, noting that the projects — valued at more than 10 billion dollars — will create employment opportunities and significantly improve the livelihoods of residents across the region.
Officials described the rallies as a reflection of unity, optimism, and public confidence in the regional administration's development agenda.
