Djibouti, 13 September 2025 – At least 19 houses have been destroyed by fire in Djibouti City's 7 Bis neighborhood, according to Djibouti Police.
The Friday fire, whose cause remains unknown, destroyed property valued at thousands of Djiboutian francs.
The fire was eventually contained by Civil Protection Firefighters, and a team of police officers from the 3rd District deployed to secure the area.
“The fire destroyed at least 19 houses and was intense” the police said in their incident report.
Despite significant material damage, authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported.
Investigations are already underway, according to the Djibouti News Agency (ADI).
Urban planners contend that such incidents highlight the risks faced by densely populated urban neighborhoods in the city, where fires can spread quickly and cause extensive material damage.
