August 25, 2026 - The Rural Agency for Community Development and Assistance (RACIDA) has donated maternal and newborn health equipment to the County Government of Mandera to strengthen service delivery and improve the quality of care for mothers and newborns.
The equipment was handed over during a ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Mandera attended by the Governor of Mandera County, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, senior health officials and RACIDA representatives.
Parts of the donated equipment to Mandera County referral Hospital includes electric obstetric delivery beds, hospital baby bassinets, specialist digital weighing scales and baby measuring rods/scales. The contribution will support health facilities to improve the quality and safety of maternal and newborn care.
Speaking during the handover, RACIDA Mandera Coordinator Abdi Dagane said the donation marked the organisation’s commitment to supporting public health services in the county as it celebrates 20 years of service.
“RACIDA is proud to mark 20 years of service by supporting practical interventions that strengthen public health systems and improve access to essential maternal and newborn health services,” said Abdi Dagane.
Dagane said the organisation would continue working closely with the County Government and communities to ensure mothers, newborns and children have access to essential healthcare services.
The CECM for Health, Mandera County Government, Mumtaza Bishar appreciated RACIDA’s continued partnership and support, saying the donated equipment would enhance service delivery in health facilities.

The handover is part of RACIDA’s inclusive health and nutrition programming in Mandera, implemented in partnership with the County Government of Mandera and development partners.
The handover comes as RACIDA marks two decades of service and partnership with the County Government of Mandera in supporting health and other community development programmes.
