GAROWE, Puntland (Dawan) – Puntland Health Minister Mohamed Abdirahman Farole has announced a new policy to cover health service cost in Bari and Raas Caseyr, aimed at improving hospital management and quality of care.
Speaking on the initiative, Minister Farole emphasized that the policy ensures sustainable and high-quality health services for the population now and in the future. He highlighted that over the past 11 years, development programs implemented by international partners—including Sweden, Switzerland, and Save the Children have benefited thousands of people in the region.
The Minister called on local communities, business leaders, religious figures, intellectuals, women, and youth to actively participate in safeguarding and enhancing hospitals, noting that these institutions are public assets built for the benefit of the people.

“Public health is a shared responsibility. The government will fulfil its role, and we expect the community to contribute actively. Together, we will ensure that our hospitals remain strong, high-quality, and capable of serving all Puntland residents,” Farole said.
In addition, a committee comprising community representatives and hospital administrators has been established to improve transparency, governance, and collaboration between the public and healthcare facilities. The Minister affirmed Puntland’s commitment to sustaining healthcare services while calling on communities to take an active role in supporting this initiative.
