2 June 2026 - President William Ruto is on Tuesday expected to commission more projects in the larger North Eastern region after presiding over the 63rd Madaraka Day national celebrations that were hosted in Wajir County for the first time.
The President who spent the second night in Wajir State Lodge, is expected to inspect construction of Wajir-Tarbaj-Kotulo road in Tarbaj Constituency.
He is also to break ground for the Tarbaj electricity mini-grid at Kotulo which is still in Tarbaj Constituency.
In Eldas constituency, President Ruto according to his communication officials, will commission Eldas Water Supply Project as well as break ground for hostels at Eldas Teachers' Training College.
President Ruto is expected to fly to Garissa to commission and inspect more projects including the inspection of ongoing construction of Garissa-Ijara road at Sarira, Fafi Constituency and break ground for the Maalimin electricity mini-grid, Lagdera Constituency.
President Ruto while addressing hundreds at the newly built Wajir Stadium (Ahmed Khalif Stadium), said he is keen on opening up the region to ensure development is at par with other parts of the country.
