Somalia, 7 April, 2026 President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday evening chaired a security meeting in Baidoa to address the situation in South West State following months of political tensions.
According to a statement from the Somali presidency, the discussions focused on managing recent security and administrative shifts in the region.
The meeting was attended by top security officials, including the Commanders of the Somali National Army (SNA), the Somali Police Force, and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). Also present was the Interim Leader of South West State, Jibril Abdirashid Haji.

The meeting follows a period of political tension surrounding local elections, which recently led to the resignation of the former regional president, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed "Laftagareen."
