President Hassan holds second Meeting with Ex-President Sharif within two weeks

The President of the Federal Government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Tuesday received the former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed to Villa Somalia for an important meeting focused on addressing critical issues impacting the nation.

The meeting provided a platform for both leaders to engage in discussions and strategize effective measures to find tailored solutions to pressing concerns related to the National Consultative Council's agreement, as well as how to convene a meeting involving all relevant leaders to listen to their grievances.

Former President Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that the meeting served as a preliminary discussion, setting the stage for broader conversations with politicians who have expressed their opposition to the National Consultative Council Agreement.

He further emphasized the urgent need to convene a meeting that seeks to include politicians with differing perspectives.

During their meeting, Presidents Mohamud and Sheikh Ahmed also addressed the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab, reaffirming the government's unwavering commitment to eradicating the threat posed by the extremist group.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reiterated the government's determination to rid the country of Al-Shabaab, acknowledging the commendable efforts of the Somali army and the unwavering resilience displayed by the Somali people in their collective struggle against terrorism.
