Dhusamareb(Mogadishu24)-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has addressed crucial issues within the country, focusing on the Government’s efforts to resolve disputes and the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.
Speaking during Galmudug State’s anniversary event on Monday night, President Hassan emphasized, “A nation that prioritizes agreement over conflict and possesses a framework to resolve disputes can achieve progress in all areas.”
The president highlighted significant progress made on various matters, including the constitution, federalism, security, the judiciary, and taxes.
He emphasized the importance of open discussions and diverse perspectives to arrive at decisions that serve the best interests of the Somali people.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud further stated that the Government’s anti-corruption campaign is not limited to low-ranking Government employees. He confirmed that high-ranking officials facing corruption allegations will soon face legal proceedings.
He said this is part of the Government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, asserting that no one is exempt from accountability for embezzlement of public funds.
The Federal Government of Somalia arrested high-ranking officials, presenting them before the Benadir regional court on charges of corruption, forgery, and abuse of government office in relation to a $21 million work-permit scandal.
