Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, received the credentials of new High Commissioners and Ambassadors from Japan, Rwanda, and Canada on Monday.
The president accepted the credentials from Mr. Hara Keiichi of Japan, Major General Karamba Charles of Rwanda, and Amb. Joshua Tabah of Canada, representing their respective countries in Djibouti.
He emphasized the importance of multilateral diplomatic relations between Djibouti and other countries, and encouraged the new diplomats to fulfil their duties effectively and efficiently.
He reiterated the Djibouti government’s commitment to supporting the diplomats in their missions.
The new ambassadors expressed gratitude to the president and the government of Djibouti for their warm welcome and reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to strengthening multilateral development and relationships with Djibouti and its partners.
Djibouti has maintained peaceful and robust relationships with friendly nations, including Japan, Rwanda, and Canada, focusing on trade, investments, and cooperation in peace and security.
The country actively participates in regional peace and security efforts, promotes trade and investments across the Horn of Africa, and advocates for digital connectivity in the Horn of Africa region.
Djibouti is one of the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troop-contributing countries and has been actively engaged in the fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization, which is a threat not only to Somalia but also to its neighbouring countries.
