Kenya, 2 December 2025 - Police in Machakos County have intercepted a Toyota Prado ferrying bhang valued at more than KSh 14 million following a dramatic night chase along the Machakos–Kangundo highway.
A police report indicates that detectives based at Kyumbi along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway had signaled the driver of the Prado TX, registration number KDN 555V, to stop.
The vehicle was travelling towards Nairobi from the Mombasa side. Instead of complying, the driver sped off, diverting towards Mutituni through the Mua Road.
Officers immediately launched a pursuit, trailing the car for several kilometres.
The chase ended at Kyanguli area on the Machakos–Kangundo road, where police opened fire and deflated the vehicle’s tyres. The Prado lost control and plunged into a valley off the roadside.
