Kenya, April 10, 2026 - A quiet operation in Laare has led to the arrest of three men believed to be behind a wave of robberies that has unsettled parts of Igembe.
Detectives, acting on intelligence, carried out a coordinated raid involving officers from DCI Laare and the local police station, leading to the arrest of James Chege, Mitiliano Muriuki and Lawrence Mwilaria.
According to investigators, the trio is suspected to be linked to a series of criminal incidents that have raised security concerns in the area.
During a search of the suspects’ residence, officers recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition, hidden inside the house.
“The weapon had been carefully concealed… suggesting an attempt to evade detection,” the DCI said.

The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting detectives with ongoing investigations.
Police say the operation is part of a broader effort to restore calm and protect communities from organised crime.
“The success of this operation reflects continued efforts to protect lives and property,” the agency noted, warning that those involved in criminal activities will be tracked down and prosecuted.
Authorities have also urged members of the public to remain alert and report suspicious activity through police stations or the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline.
