Somalia, 22 September 2025 – The opposition wing of the Somali Salvation Forum is holding a meeting in Mogadishu today.
In a statement sent to the media, the Forum’s opposition faction said the gathering would begin at 3:00 p.m., though details of the agenda and the number of participants have not been made public.
This faction has been critical of the federal government's management of elections and proposed constitutional changes.
Today’s gathering marks the second joint meeting of the group since another faction of the Forum signed an agreement with the Federal Government of Somalia on August 25.
Their last joint session took place on August 31, when they criticized the government and called for an inclusive national consultation involving the federal member states of Jubaland and Puntland — a proposal welcomed by both states.
Since that communiqué, Forum members have continued to voice criticism of the government, but largely through individual statements rather than collective positions.
