Kenya, 12 May 2026 - OpenAI has announced the launch of the OpenAI Deployment Company, which is expected to help organisations build and deploy artificial intelligence systems more effectively in their day-to-day operations.
In a statement on Monday, OpenAI said it will initially focus on assessing valuable AI opportunities within organisations before helping to design systems tailored to customers' operations.
The tech company has also revealed that it has agreed to acquire Tomoro, an applied AI consulting and engineering firm, a move that is expected to bring about 150 experienced Forward Deployed Engineers and Deployment Specialists to the new company.
OpenAI has said that the OpenAI Deployment Company will integrate specialised engineers directly into organisations to help identify where AI can make the biggest impact, redesign organisational infrastructure, and create durable systems.
“The OpenAI Deployment Company will extend OpenAI’s ability to embed engineers specialized in frontier AI deployment, known as Forward Deployed Engineers, or FDEs, into organizations working on complex problems in demanding environments,” OpenAI stated.
Over the past several years, more than one million businesses have adopted OpenAI’s products and APIs, increasing the need for a new company focused on deploying AI technology into real-world operations, according to OpenAI.

The new company is backed by 19 global investment firms, consultancies, and system integrators, according to OpenAI.
The partnership is led by TPG, as well as co-lead founding partners Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield. Other founding partners include Goldman Sachs, SoftBank Corp, and Warburg Pincus. Leading investors include Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey & Company.
“The Deployment Company will also work closely with and alongside OpenAI’s Frontier Alliance partners and the broader industry to drive AI adoption and change management globally, “ the company stated.
“The OpenAI Deployment Company is majority-owned and controlled by OpenAI, giving customers a unified experience whether they work with OpenAI, the OpenAI Deployment Company, or both,” it added.
