Saudi Arabia, 18 April 2026 The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Israel’s appointment of a diplomatic envoy to Somaliland, describing the move as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a statement issued from Jeddah, the OIC General Secretariat said Israel’s action
contravenes international law and undermines the unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The organisation reaffirmed its support for Somalia's sovereignty and legitimate institutions, rejecting any actions that could weaken the country’s territorial integrity.
It also called on all states to adhere to the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states.
The statement comes amid growing regional and international reactions to Israel’s diplomatic engagement with Somaliland, which Somalia considers part of its territory.
