17 January 2026 - Members of the North Eastern Parliamentary Group have dismissed claims that they misused National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) allocations in the region.
Speaking for the group, its secretary general and Fafi MP Salah Yakub said the leaders were focused on development and would not be distracted by criticism.
The MPs were responding to allegations that they could not account for NG-CDF funds disbursed to constituencies in North Eastern Kenya.
Mr Yakub said the funds had improved living standards and helped address decades of marginalization in the region.
The lawmaker noted that several Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Teachers Training College (TTC) were built through CDF and devolved funds in the region.
Yakub said over 4000 students in Garissa are sponsored by NGCDF from constituency across the region.
He added that only in Fafi constituency close to 100 students are currently in Ugandan universities pursuing medicine course, where NG-CDF pays not less than sh150,000 per student per year.
The first term UDA lawmaker said in his Fafi Constituency NG-CDF had been used to expand primary schools from four to 34, establish seven secondary schools from none previously, and build a modern special school for learners with disabilities—the first of its kind in the constituency since independence.

In posts on X, formerly Twitter, Mr Farah highlighted several development projects funded through NG-CDF and dismissed criticism from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi.
He maintained that records existed showing how county and NG-CDF funds were utilized, adding that the critics might not be fully aware of development projects implemented in the region over the past decade.
