Mogadishu - Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said on Monday its forces, with support from international partners, killed 19 Al Shabaab fighters in Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions.
According to NISA, the first operation took place near Geel-gub in the Middle Shabelle region, where 12 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed while assembling to prepare for an attack. Recruitment and training facilities were also destroyed.
A separate operation in Buq-aqable, in the Hiran region, targeted what NISA described as a weapons storage site used by the group. The agency said seven suspected members were killed, including a commander identified as Faruuq, whom it described as being responsible for managing the group's weapons stockpile.

NISA also said the operation destroyed weapons and other equipment stored at the site, including vehicles and logistical supplies.
The agency said the operations form part of the Somali government's ongoing campaign against Al-Shabaab's leadership, infrastructure and supply networks.
