Somalia, 25 May 2026 Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, killed five Al-Shabaab fighters in an operation in Tardo, Hiran, NISA said on Sunday.
The raid targeted militant positions and infrastructure reportedly used to plan attacks against civilians and government forces. NISA said intelligence indicated that around 25 militants, including commanders and rank-and-file fighters, had gathered in the area preparing operations to disrupt local security.
“Security forces focused on locations central to the group’s command and control. The raid dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s organisation and mobility in the area,” NISA said in a statement.
