Kenya, 28 August 2026 - Kenya’s capacity to provide practical and tactical training to police officers has received a boost following the establishment of a new field training camp in Meru County, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Eliud Lagat has said.
Speaking at the 149th Kenya Police Service pass-out parade at the National Police College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County, Lagat said the newly established Magado Field Training Camp in Igembe North, Meru County, had expanded the service’s ability to prepare officers for the practical demands of policing.
Lagat said the latest graduating class was the first cohort to undergo training at the facility, describing the officers as having been tested and prepared for their responsibilities.
“We are particularly proud to witness the graduation of this inaugural cohort trained at the newly established Magado Field Training Camp in Igembe North, Meru County. This further expanded our capacity for practical and tactical police training,” Lagat said.
He thanked President William Ruto for continued investment in the Kenya Police Service and efforts to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
Addressing the graduating officers, Lagat reminded them that their new uniforms came with a responsibility to serve the country.

“To our graduating officers, the new uniform you wear is your call to service,” he said.
He also commended the commandant and training team for preparing the recruits and acknowledged the families for supporting the officers throughout their training.
“Your Excellency, the officers before you are ready to serve our Republic of Kenya,” Lagat said.
