Kenya, 24 July 2026 - Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale is under investigation by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over alleged ethnic incitement remarks circulating on social media.
Announcing the probe on Friday, NCIC Chairman Bishop Dr. Kepha Nyamweya Omae said the commission had received a formal complaint and its Investigations Department had commenced a thorough and impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the alleged utterances.
"The National Cohesion and Integration Commission acknowledges receipt of a complaint regarding alleged utterances by Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale. Our Investigations Department is conducting a thorough and impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the said utterances," Bishop Omae said.
The NCIC chairman commended members of the public who reported the matter, urging Kenyans to continue reporting incidents of divisive political rhetoric and ethnic profiling to enable the commission take appropriate action.
"We encourage the public to continue to collaborate with the Commission and bring such cases forward so that necessary action is taken. We cannot afford to watch this country slide into anarchy, especially through utterances that divide communities," Bishop Omae said.
He said the commission strongly condemned any remarks that promote ethnic division, stressing that Kenya belongs to all communities without exception.

Bishop Omae noted that, if substantiated, the alleged utterances could amount to violations of Article 33 of the Constitution and Sections 13 and 62 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act.
The NCIC chairman also appealed to political leaders to exercise restraint and shun inflammatory rhetoric as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
"Leadership at every level carries a solemn duty to safeguard, rather than imperil, the unity of this nation," Bishop Omae said.
He reaffirmed the commission's commitment to acting firmly, decisively and impartially against any conduct that threatens national unity and cohesion, while calling on all Kenyans to rise above narrow interests and protect the country's peace and shared destiny.
