Kenya, January 25 2026 - Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured the nation that swift investigations are underway following the violent disruption of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s church visit at Witima ACK Church in Othaya, Nyeri County.
“I have spoken with Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, who confirmed that the police are treating this matter with the urgency it deserves. The perpetrators will be held accountable,” Murkomen said.
The Interior CS condemned the attacks, calling violence in a place of worship “completely unacceptable.”
He urged law enforcement to act decisively against both the sponsors and perpetrators, without fear or favour, regardless of their social or political status.
Murkomen also reassured the public that the government remains committed to upholding democracy, including the rights to lawful assembly and freedom of worship.
