Kenya, November 22, 2025 - Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi has warned Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya to brace for defeat in the 2027 General Election, insisting that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will field candidates capable of unseating him.
Speaking during a community engagement forum in Navagara, Malava Constituency, Mudavadi said the governor was “overestimating himself,” adding that youthful leaders within UDA were prepared to challenge him.
“I want to tell Natembeya: don’t act too clever. We have been in politics longer. We may be quiet, but don’t think we cannot do politics. We will take you home in 2027. We have young men and women ready to take over from him,” said Mudavadi, who also serves as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
He added that the people of Trans Nzoia should “relieve Natembeya of his duties so that he can pursue his desire to be an elder in every community.”
Mudavadi stressed that his calm style of leadership should not be mistaken for political weakness. “I have seen victory and defeat. We know how to navigate the world of politics, but we choose to practise polite and peaceful politics,” he said.
Sharp Critique of Matiang’i
The PCS also took aim at former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, accusing him of lacking moral authority to criticize the government.
More from Kenya
“Where does Matiang’i get the moral authority to challenge the government when he has many questions to answer? Kenyans have not forgotten how hundreds of bodies were found in River Yala during his term,” Mudavadi claimed.
He further alleged that Matiang’i failed to grant Malava Constituency the two administrative divisions residents had requested, saying it was only under President William Ruto’s administration that Malava North and Malava South were created.
Call for Unity Behind Ruto
Mudavadi urged the Western Kenya region to rally behind President Ruto’s government, arguing that this would strengthen their chances of capturing the presidency in future.
“We must position ourselves well to take over from Ruto after he finishes his two terms. Do you think others are not preparing? We must safeguard our future by giving this government 100 percent support,” he said.
“The people from other regions are not sleeping; they are planning. We must be vigilant and work in unity.”
