Kenya, 24 October 2025 - Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to embrace agriculture and adopt new innovations so as to boost the sector, which serves as backbone to the nation's economy.
Speaking during the closing session of the 5th Annual National Agribusiness Summit on Thursday, Mr Mudavadi said the Kenya Kwanza government has bold and deliberate policy commitments to strengthen value chains, enhance market efficiency, and modernise rural infrastructure to unlock the full potential of the sector.
The summit was organised by the Agriculture Sector Network (ASNET), an umbrella body of the agriculture sector in Kenya.
The CS said the summit stands as a powerful platform to reposition agriculture as a competitive, profitable, and technology-driven enterprise that fuels Kenya’s economic transformation.
“These frameworks are harmonising county and national interventions, reducing duplication, curbing exploitation, stabilising markets, and delivering tangible results for farmers and agri-preneurs,” said the Prime CS.
He added that a critical pillar of this transformation is value addition and agro-processing that is being actualised through investing in cottage industries, cold storage facilities, and agro-industrial parks thus increasing farm incomes, creating quality jobs, and stimulating local economies.
The summit brought together leaders from government, the private sector, academia, and development partners, united by a shared mission to transform agriculture into a vibrant engine of enterprise, innovation, and prosperity.
It was guided by the theme “From Promise to Action: Advancing Agribusiness through Dialogue and Innovation,” with conversations and commitments forged affirming one truth, the future of agriculture lies in innovation, data, and technology.
