Kenya, April 17, 2026 - Kenya’s aviation sector has entered a new phase following a leadership change at the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), with Moses Wekesa officially taking over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The transition, which took effect on April 17, was marked by a formal handover ceremony where Dr. Mohamud Gedi passed the baton after serving in an acting capacity.
The ceremony, overseen by the Authority’s Board, signalled the end of Gedi’s interim leadership and the beginning of a new chapter for the agency tasked with managing the country’s airports.
In a statement, KAA acknowledged Gedi’s tenure, thanking him for his contribution during the transition period.
“The Board, Management, and staff… express their appreciation to Dr. Mohamud Gedi for his dedicated service and leadership during the acting period,” the Authority said.
