Somalia, 4 June 2026 – Mogadishu Mayor and Banadir Governor Hassan Mohamed Hussein ‘Mungab’ praised Somali security forces on Thursday for efforts to protect security, civilians and state authority, following overnight armed clashes.
In a statement on social media, Mungab said the work carried out by the security forces over the past hours reflected their duty to defend stability, law and public order.

“I commend the Somali National Forces and security agencies for working with discipline, courage and responsibility to secure safety, protect the public and strengthen the dignity of statehood,” Mungab said.
He also thanked Mogadishu residents for what he called their patience, awareness and cooperation during a critical period.
Mungab warned that any attempt to undermine security, disrupt public order or weaken state authority will not be accepted.
His remarks came after overnight clashes in Mogadishu, where the federal government and opposition figures exchanged accusations.
