United States, 3 June 2026 - Tech Giant Meta has launched a new artificial intelligence system, Meta Business Agent, that is engineered to help businesses automate their operations across its platforms.
In a statement on Wednesday, the company said that the tool is built to enable businesses to respond to their customers instantly, operate in multiple languages, and deliver personalized services.
Among tasks the business agent can perform are answering questions specific to your business, making product recommendations from a business catalog, booking appointments, qualifying leads, and helping decide when a team member steps in to provide support and close sales.
According to the company, the agent will also act as an operational assistant and perform tasks such as summarising missed chats, providing insights from conversations, and delivering daily briefings.
Early testing of the agent is currently underway across WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and Meta Business Suite.
According to Meta, businesses will access the agent through paid subscription offerings, with options for businesses of every size in the coming months.
More than one million businesses are already using the early version of the agent on platforms such as WhatsApp and Messenger, helping them respond to customer inquiries around the clock, with plans underway to expand it to Instagram.
“And because a billion people already connect with businesses on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram every day, a Business Agent can deliver more relevant, personalized experiences from the very first interaction,” the company stated.
“We’re now expanding our Business Agent to businesses of all sizes globally, so you can have yours up and running within minutes, responding in your customers’ local languages using your tone,” it added.
On the other hand, the company has also introduced the Meta Business Agent Platform, which is a tool that will allow companies to build and customise their own personalised AI agents.
The platform integrates third-party systems such as Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee, thus enabling businesses to automate order management, customer support, and lead handling.
“For businesses using WhatsApp, the Meta Business Agent Platform works alongside our Business Platform, and we support Messenger and Instagram as well,” the company stated.
The company has also revealed plans to introduce a tool that will improve how users discover AI-powered businesses on messaging platforms. For instance, people will be able to search for businesses by typing their name in the Search bar, or by sharing their phone number or contact card in chats with friends and family.
