July 6, 2026 - Mandera County Government special enforcement officers have arrested a woman suspected of engaging in the illegal sale of drugs and illicit alcohol during a targeted operation carried out in one of the residential estates in Mandera Town.
The operation, conducted on Monday, forms part of the county government's ongoing campaign to combat the sale and distribution of illegal substances that pose a threat to public health, security, and social well-being.
During the raid, enforcement officers recovered 30 bottles of alcoholic beverages and 20 litres of locally brewed chang'aa, all of which were confiscated as evidence.
The suspect, identified as Christine, was taken into custody and briefly processed at the county enforcement offices before being handed over to officers at Mandera Police Station for further investigations and possible prosecution.
Speaking after the operation, senior enforcement officer Ibrahim Robow praised the officers involved, describing the arrest as another win in the county's efforts to rid Mandera of illicit alcohol and drug-related activities.
"Our officers remain committed to enforcing the law and protecting residents from the harmful effects of illegal drugs and illicit alcohol. We will continue conducting intelligence-led operations across the county to ensure those involved in such unlawful activities are brought to justice," said Ibrahim Robow.

Over the past few years, the department has carried out several crackdowns, leading to the seizure of significant quantities of illicit alcohol and the arrest of multiple suspects.
Residents have also been urged to support the fight against illegal substances by reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

The seized alcohol is expected to be used as evidence as investigations continue, while the suspect remains in police custody awaiting further legal action.
