UK, 21 August 2026 - Manchester City have stepped up their interest in Palmeiras winger Allan Elias, with negotiations now underway as the Premier League club prepares for significant changes to its attacking options.
The 22-year-old Brazilian has emerged as City's leading candidate to replace Savinho, who is closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur. City made contact with Palmeiras on Thursday and that initial discussions over the player's valuation had already taken place. Allan is understood to be keen on the move.
The timing of City's approach is closely linked to Savinho's imminent departure.
Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City for Savinho in a deal worth around £80 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to the latest reporting from Fabrizio Romano.
With the Brazilian winger heading for north London, City need another wide attacker, and Allan has emerged as one of their preferred options.
Allan wants the move#
One factor working in City's favour is the player's reported desire to make the move to England.
Romano reported that Allan is keen on joining Manchester City, giving the Premier League champions an important advantage as negotiations progress.
That does not mean the transfer is guaranteed, however.
Palmeiras have been extremely reluctant to sell Allan during the current window. Brazilian reports indicate that the club regard him as an important part of Abel Ferreira's squad and would prefer to keep him for the remainder of the season.
The biggest obstacle is therefore the price.
Allan reportedly has a €100 million release clause, although City are believed to be looking for an agreement below that figure rather than simply activating the clause.
Palmeiras have already demonstrated their ability to command significant fees for young Brazilian talent, having previously sold players such as Endrick and Estêvão to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively.

The club also have little sporting incentive to sell Allan midway through a campaign in which he has become an important first-team player.
Who is Allan Elias?#
Allan, whose full name is Allan Andrade Elias, is a versatile left-footed Brazilian winger capable of operating on the right flank and in central attacking positions.
He broke into Palmeiras' senior side in 2025 after progressing through the club's academy and has developed rapidly during 2026.
According to recent reporting, Allan has already made 41 appearances for Palmeiras this year, starting 35 of those matches, while contributing six goals and five assists.
His combination of pace, technical ability, work rate and versatility has attracted attention from several European clubs.
Manchester City's interest is now genuine and talks with Palmeiras have opened, but the transfer remains at the negotiation stage.
City have the financial capacity to make a major offer, particularly with Savinho's impending sale expected to generate a substantial fee.
Palmeiras, meanwhile, will attempt to maximise the value of one of their most important young players.
