DJIBOUTI, July 25 2026– A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck the Gulf of Tadjourah early on Saturday and was felt across parts of Djibouti, but no casualties or material damage were reported, authorities said.
The earthquake occurred at about 3:50 a.m. local time (0050 GMT), with its epicentre located in the Gulf of Tadjourah, about 19 km (12 miles) west-northwest of Djibouti City at a depth of 8 km (5 miles), according to the Arta Geophysical Observatory.
The tremor was felt in several parts of the country, including Djibouti City, Arta and Tadjourah, the observatory said.

Civil protection authorities said no injuries or damage had been reported, and no major emergency response was required.
The Arta Geophysical Observatory said it was continuing to monitor seismic activity across the country and urged the public to rely on official sources for information.
Djibouti lies within the East African Rift System, where the African, Arabian and Somali tectonic plates converge, making the country susceptible to periodic seismic activity. (Reuters)
