Ethiopia, 11 November 2025 - A 980,000-dollar water factory has been inaugurated in Dhagahbuur, Jira region of Somali Regional State.
The factory, managed by Safa Water Company, is designed to improve access to clean drinking water and create new job opportunities for the local community.
The opening ceremony, held on Monday, was attended by senior regional and federal officials, including, Deputy Minister at the Office of the President of the Somali Regional State, Mohamed Yusuf Rooble, and Deputy Minister of Investment and Industry Ibrahim Ahmed Sheikh.
Traditional elders and local business leaders were also in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of private sector investment in driving social and economic development.
“Governments around the world focus on economic infrastructure. The majority of jobs are created by companies and industries — it’s the private sector that employs most people in our communities,” he said.
The project was financed by Somali entrepreneurs from the Jarar region, with support from the Dhagahbuur Municipal Administration, which facilitated the factory’s establishment.
Officials noted that the new plant will expand access to safe water, boost the local economy, and encourage domestic investment and community-based business partnerships across the region.
