UK, 29 August 2026 - Hosts Liverpool came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest on Saturday in a tightly contested English Premier League (EPL) match.
Dan Ndoye gave Forest the lead in the 24th minute, and they remained ahead at half-time.
In the second half, Liverpool returned determined to overturn the deficit, and it was Alexander Isak who scored a deserved equaliser in the 60th minute.
A throw-in that Forest started quickly developed into a chance when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker went to save but committed a foul in the build-up.
The referee awarded a penalty, which Morgan Gibbs-White converted in the 70th minute.
Twelve minutes later, Liverpool scored again through Victor Munoz, who left the Forest keeper with no chance.
Liverpool sit 10th with two points from two EPL matches.
Forest are 12th with one point, having lost their opening EPL match.
Manchester City top the EPL table with six points after beating Crystal Palace 4-1 on Friday. Both Erling Haaland and Cherki scored a brace, while Palace’s goal came from an own goal by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma following his mistake.
Enzo Fernández Agrees Personal Terms With City as Chelsea Transfer Decision Looms#
Meanwhile, league leaders Manchester City have taken another major step towards signing Enzo Fernández from Chelsea, with the Argentina international reportedly reaching a verbal agreement on personal terms with Enzo Maresca side.
The latest development was reported by Fabrizio Romano, who says Fernández has agreed terms with City. However, the transfer is not yet a club-to-club agreement because Manchester City have not submitted an official offer to Chelsea. The next stage will therefore depend on City's willingness to meet Chelsea's valuation.
The situation has developed rapidly with the transfer window approaching its conclusion.
Chelsea have maintained a firm valuation of approximately £120 million for Fernández, despite City having previously missed a deadline set by the London club to make an offer. Sky Sports reports that Chelsea are nevertheless prepared to consider selling the midfielder if their financial demands are met and they can strengthen their own squad before the window closes.

City now have to decide whether Fernández is worth the enormous investment required to prise him away from Stamford Bridge. The Argentine joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 in a British-record deal worth around £107 million, and he remains one of the club's most important midfielders.
Why Manchester City want Fernández#
City's interest comes as Maresca reshapes his midfield.
The club have lost several experienced midfielders, including Rodri, who moved to Barcelona, while Tijjani Reijnders joined Al Qadsiah. Bernardo Silva has also departed, while Nico González is heading to Newcastle.
City have invested heavily in rebuilding the position, signing Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Lille teenager Ayyoub Bouaddi. Fernández would nevertheless represent a completely different level of experience and immediate quality.
The Argentine's passing range, technical ability, defensive work and capacity to control games make him an attractive option for Maresca.
Fernández's Chelsea future uncertain#
The midfielder's immediate Chelsea future has also become increasingly uncertain.
Fernández was left out of Chelsea's Carabao Cup victory over Luton, although manager Xabi Alonso said the decision was not necessarily connected to the transfer speculation and described Fernández as a good professional who had been training well. His availability for Chelsea's weekend fixture was still to be decided.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly begun considering potential midfield replacements, including Monaco's Lamine Camara, should Fernández eventually leave.
For now, Fernández has agreed personal terms with Manchester City, but City still need to convince Chelsea to sell.
The next move belongs to Manchester City.
If they submit an offer that satisfies Chelsea's valuation, one of the summer's biggest Premier League transfers could become reality.
