Kenya, June 02, 2026 - The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties on Tuesday,held discussions with two visiting delegations from Germany and the Netherlands on strengthening democratic governance and political party development in Kenya.
Registrar J.C. Lorionokou and his team met officials from the Hanns Seidel Foundation Kenya/The Junge Union [HSF] and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy [NIMD] to appraise partnership needs and projected programmes.
The HSF delegation was led by Markus Oesterlein from Germany. Discussions centred on areas of mutual interest, including strengthening democratic governance and building the capacity of political parties.
“The meetings provided a briefing on the registration and regulation of political parties, compliance with the Political Parties Act, and mechanisms to promote accountability and good governance within parties in Kenya,” reads a statement from the office of political registrar.
It further stated that capacity- building initiatives for political parties and other stakeholders also featured in the talks.
The ORPP said the engagements reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration aimed at enhancing stakeholder capacity and strengthening the country’s democratic and governance fabric.
