Kenya, 18 November 2025 - Kenya’s ambition to have at least five percent of all vehicles on its roads be electric by end of this year received a significant boost on Tuesday after 30 electric cars were handed over to taxi operators.
The push for clean and affordable mobility gained fresh momentum as MojaEv delivered the new units, further strengthening the country’s expanding electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
The handover adds to a fleet of more than 100 EVs already introduced into the Kenyan market through partnerships with taxi associations, leasing firms, and other mobility stakeholders.
As part of its national e-mobility strategy, Kenya is targeting 100 percent electric public transport in major cities by 2030.
Pilot programs for electric buses are underway, alongside government plans to establish a nationwide network of 10,000 public charging stations by the same year, an effort aimed at easing range anxiety and accelerating EV uptake.
MojaEv reiterated that the initiative is grounded on building trust and offering practical, high-impact mobility solutions.
“Electric mobility is no longer a distant vision. It is happening now—at scale—and creating tangible benefits for drivers, businesses, and communities,” company officials said.
Key partners supporting Kenya’s growing EV landscape also shared their commitment. GA Insurance Marketing Executive Collins Amugune reaffirmed the insurer’s role in supporting safe, reliable, and affordable EV ownership.

“The Neta EV delivers exceptional cost savings and reliability for fleet operators. This investment strengthens our business while supporting our commitment to clean public transport,” she said.
CBS Director Dr. Okuthe echoed the company’s dedication to embracing green mobility solutions.
“CBS embraces green technology wholeheartedly. Receiving our Neta fleet today marks a new chapter, one where we are creating opportunities, protecting our planet, and ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and innovation go hand in hand,” he said.
During the event, MojaEv also announced the upcoming launch of the Neta Light, a new EV model designed specifically for African road conditions and taxi operations. The model promises greater affordability, making the transition to electric mobility even more accessible for drivers.
MojaEv continues to collaborate with taxi associations, leasing companies, SACCOs, digital platforms such as Uber and Bolt, and financial partners to enable more Kenyans to confidently shift to electric mobility.
