Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-The Governments of Kenya and the Czech Republic have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation on wide range of issues, during the visit of the Czech Republic Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, to the State House on Tuesday.
The discussions primarily focused on the need of strengthening ties through regular interactions to fully exploit the potential for commerce, trade, tourism, education, culture, and other areas of mutual interest.
Kenya’s President, William Samoi Ruto, acknowledged the longstanding relationship between Kenya and the Czech Republic, which has facilitated successful trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
“Prime Minister Fiala and I have just concluded productive discussions on a wide range of issues. I thank Prime Minister Fiala for his demonstrable goodwill and political commitment,” said President William Ruto.
He further emphasized the significance of the Czech Republic’s decision to establish a business hub in Kenya, highlighting the vast market opportunities it would unlock.
“The Czech Republic’s decision to establish a business hub in Kenya will provide access to a market of 400 million people within the East African Community, a market of 750 million in the Tripartite Free Trade Area, and an even larger market of over 1.4 billion in the African Continental Free Trade Area,” he stated.
President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and climate solutions for Cop28, requesting support from the Czech Prime Minister.
“Kenya and the Czech Republic are working together on biodiversity conservation. We are strongly committed to strengthening our partnerships. I presented to the Prime Minister our plans to collaborate as a continent as we head to Cop28. We seek support for our propositions, which are anchored in the Nairobi Declaration, uniting the nations of Africa to devise solutions for climate change in the future.”
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Prof. Petr Fiala, expressed his positive impressions of Kenya’s vibrant economy and a strong interest in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.
Prof. Fiala also engaged with various stakeholders in the trade and commerce industry to explore future cooperative opportunities.
Kenya’s regional and international influence has been growing as it actively participates in global and regional matters, such as security and peace.
Two weeks ago, the governments of Kenya and China signed multiple agreements covering various sectors, including communication, technology, medicine, electricity, and road construction.
Kenya has also signed a five-year joint defense cooperation framework with the United States of America, which will enable the two countries to enhance compatibility and work together for regional peace and stability.
