Kenya, October 19, 2026 - Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that President William Ruto’s government will fall , insisting the opposition’s journey to “Canaan” remains on course one year after the death of Raila Odinga.
Speaking in a State of the Nation address, Kalonzo reflected on attending the first anniversary memorial in Bondo. He said the Odinga family, despite their grief, still found room to host everyone , a spirit he attributed to Raila’s example.
He said the fight for a democratic Kenya continues. Referring to Raila as both Moses and Joshua, Kalonzo told the late opposition leader that the journey will reach Canaan ,a democratic state where every Kenyan, from Lodwar to Kwale and from Garissa to Migingo Island, feels they have arrived.
Kalonzo sharply criticised what he called a “predatory regime,” accusing it of using hired goons to disrupt peaceful gatherings. He pointed to violence at the recent event, where stones were thrown at a VIP tent and members of the public.
Police have arrested five suspects, but Kalonzo demanded that investigators “follow the money and the vehicles” and arrest the financiers rather than only the young men holding weapons.

He warned young people against being recruited as militia for a few thousand shillings, telling them their future lies in jobs, the ballot, and peaceful organising ,not in pangas. He reminded them of constitutional rights to free expression and peaceful assembly, while cautioning against hate speech, violence or attacking fellow citizens over political differences.
On current events, Kalonzo condemned the reported attack on Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s convoy after it encountered the presidential motorcade in Kitale. He also accused the government of abusing power by interfering with property belonging to the family of former President Daniel arap Moi and of continuing logging in critical water towers such as the Aberdares despite court orders.
Looking ahead, Kalonzo called on Kenyans to treat 25 June as an Accountability Day and urged citizens to check their voter registration ahead of the 10 August 2027 election. He said a free and fair vote is the next brave act required of the country.
“The predatory regime will drown as it tries to cross the Red Sea of Kenyan democratic space,” Kalonzo said. “Come 10 August next year, that Pharaoh will drown.”
