JOWHAR, 3 October 2026 — The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced the results of the Hirshabelle House of Representatives election, which was held across 10 districts and contested by 13 political organisations for 99 seats, according to the commission.
The commission said 114,633 people took part in the House of Representatives election, with 112,451 votes declared valid and 2,182 votes declared invalid.
The Justice and Solidarity Party received the highest number of votes, with 88,300, and won 78 seats in the House of Representatives.
KAAMA received 6,875 votes and won six seats, while Iftin Qaran received 6,165 votes and won five seats.
SINAAD received 3,701 votes and won three seats, while Dimoqraadiga Soomaaliyeed received 2,368 votes and won two seats.
RAMAS received 1,939 votes and won two seats, while Caddaaladda iyo Midnimada (TIIR), MADALSAN and Muwaadiniinta Soomaaliyeed each won one seat.

Dadka Soomaaliyeed, SAAB, Dan Shacab and Dhalinyarada Tala Qaran did not win any seats in the House of Representatives, according to the commission.
Separately, the commission announced the results of Hirshabelle’s local council elections, which were also held across 10 districts, with 222 seats contested.
A total of 114,633 people voted in the local council elections, with 112,466 votes declared valid and 2,167 declared invalid.
The Justice and Solidarity Party won 158 local council seats, followed by KAAMA with 17 seats, MADALSAN with 14, Iftin Qaran with 12, SINAAD with eight, RAMAS with seven and Muwaadiniinta Soomaaliyeed with four.
The commission said the elections in Hirshabelle and Galmudug, held on September 30, represented an important step towards a one-person, one-vote electoral system. The Hirshabelle election was the first time residents directly elected members of the House of Representatives and local councils.
The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said it is now preparing for federal electoral activities, including elections for the two houses of Somalia’s Federal Parliament.
