Kenya, July 20 ,2026 - Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) Limited has announced the planned transition of its Managing Director, Jubril Adeniji, following the expiry of his tenure and his recall to Guaranty Trust Bank Limited in Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, the bank’s Board of Directors said that Adeniji will remain in office as the Managing Director for the next 90 days, a period in which the bank will wrap up the handover process.
During this period, the bank said that it will seek the necessary regulatory approvals for the appointment of a new Managing Director.
“The Board wishes to assure customers, employees, regulators, shareholders and all stakeholders that GTBank Kenya's operations remain stable and uninterrupted,” the bank stated.
“The Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional banking services and creating sustainable value for all stakeholders,” it added.
Jubril Adeniji was appointed Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Kenya after serving as the pioneer Managing Director of GTBank Tanzania. He was nominated in July 2022 and assumed office in March 2023.
The bank has also expressed appreciation for Adeniji's leadership and contribution during his tenure, maintaining that he played a central role in strengthening the bank's shareholding and governance framework and also enhancing the quality of its earning asset portfolio.
The board specifically credited Adeniji with improving the bank's internal control environment and overseeing the execution of a transformative strategic plan aimed at increasing market share.
The bank has also said that his leadership helped strengthen the bank's workforce.
Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) Limited is a commercial bank and is a subsidiary of Nigeria-based Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO).
The bank entered the Kenyan market in 2013 through the acquisition of Fina Bank Group and has since expanded its footprint by offering corporate, SME, retail, private banking and treasury services in the country.
